How Do I Get Fit - P90X, Insanity and Beachbody fitness Coaching. You can change your body. This is the place to start.

What’s A P90X Hybrid?

You’ve heard the term around here before and it’s one that’s become the go-to “post-P90X” workout formula: The Hybrid.

So what is a hybrid?

In short, a hybrid is total radness. In long, a hybrid is taking the best of two programs and fusing them together for added benefit and variety. The most popular of the hybrid melds involve using P90X with another program, specifically due to the awesome fact P90X’s resistance workouts are thorough and cover the basics for toning up and building muscle for that “Beach body”. I’ve used a P90X/Insanity hybrid to retain muscle while building extra cardiovascular endurance and am currently in the middle of a P90X/Asylum hybrid to improve my agility, performance and cut up a little more.

When it comes to a P90X hybrid, they usually boil down to this: Keep the P90X resistance workouts (Monday/Wednesday/Friday) and replace the “cardio days” with another program (Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday)… Insanity, for example. Beachbody has a full suite of official, specifically designed and ready to go. You can see them all, and download them, right here (under “Hybrid Worksheets”).

Looking for a little more customization? Good on ya! You can always design your own, but where Steve Edwards usually plays a hand in designing the Beachbody hybrids, I tend to trust his recommendations. Still, he gives a FANTASTIC breakdown of when and why and how to design your own –with a few examples– right here. I highly recommend checking it out.

In the mean time, plug into your program, plug into Coach Dan and HDIGF for support and personalized details in making a hybrid work for you as you continue to crush it moving forward!

    Hey Jim–
Definitely do it. Gets you out of the “Plyo Again?” rut and keeps things fresh. Also found I cut up a lot more.
