How’s This For a Before And After?

Nutrition matters. If there’s one thing that will make a dramatic difference in your transformation, it’s what you eat. Case in point: Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kendrick Perkins.

You can read the full story of Kendrick getting serious about becoming a better athlete and losing some poundage here but needless to say, dude lost some weight. Besides putting in some extra hours of conditioning, Kendrick– a guy who used to eat whatever he wanted–  hired a nutritionist to get him on the right tracking with his eating habits. When asked about his leaner, meaner transformation, Perkins put out this quote… which gets a huge amen from me:

“I was just eating whatever I wanted. You have to change up your diet a little bit. But there was a lot of things that was healthy on the menu that I actually liked,” Perkins said. “I feel a ton better. … It’s just a sacrifice you’ve got to put in. You’ve really just got to be honest and look yourself and look yourself in the mirror and go from there.”

You want to lose fat, lean out or build muscle? Look in the mirror, be honest and sacrifice. There’s no other way. Of course, there’s upside besides better health, more confidence and a change in wardrobe. Perkins had this to say:

“Obviously, when you get lighter, you move quicker and you jump higher. I’ve never been a real leaper but I’ve got some kind of hops now,” Perkins said. “It’s all good.”
